As I think on about what Memorial Day means here. All the sacrifices of the men and women who came before me. The stories I have heard from fellow soldiers who were "there"...
Was it worth it?
Where are we going now?
I am also struck by the changes I have seen even in my own lifetime. Things I took for granted when I was a boy. Things I thought were impossible, or at least too difficult to be worth the effort. What will get better? What will get worse? What will begin? what will end?
this quote I originally heard from one of my favorite lecturers, Ravi Zacharias. He adds his own tag on to this, and I think it is appropriate...
Behind the debris of these solemn supermen, and self-styled imperial diplomatists, there stands the gigantic figure of one, because of whom, by whom, in whom and through whom alone, mankind may still have peace: The person of Jesus Christ. I present him as the way, the truth, and the life.

I believe there are others than Jesus Christ for the title of "good men"... The ordinary people who did their best to make every day a day worth living. Small things... A loving pat, a good word, a gently smile. To sweeten the life of everyone.
