I was originally goint to make this a "picture" hanging on the horribly empty wall in "Dad, I Stink" But both Spacewolfomega and I agreed that it detracted from the overall theme of the picture, but he appreciated the humor and suggested that I post it as a photo, so here it is.
The car is kind of a work in progress for me, I bought it from a friend who bought it from a friend who inherited it from his uncle. The price of the car went to put a tombstone on the man's grave. I've done a fair amount of mechanical work to get her back into shape. I should probably post a "before" pic or two. Maaco did a wonderful job on reapinting her in that beautiful Wedgewood Blue metallic. Gruber Reuphoulstry of Harrisburg, Pa re-did the vinyl top, and the front seats which were shredded from use. The rims I scavanged from a U-Pull-it boneyard, sandblasted and repainted myself. The headliner I also re-did myself, scavenging a new headboard from a newer car of the same era. I replaced the rubber door and trunk seals, and installed new fiberglass tail fins to replace the original disintegrating rubber ones. Of course I love her dress whites! =^^= I'll drive her to school periodically to show the kids what a Real Car was. (Not too often, now that gas doubled in price! )
*Sigh*
To return once to that wonderful time, when cars wre cars and gas mileage was irrelevant!
